Online TLDS platform is NOT a record keeping tool

Essentially each service will have your own policy regarding retention of documents for a child's record. DET has outlined the legislative requirements (Page 5 of Guide to Information sharing ), but services do have freedom within that legislation to make your own policies regarding child assessments.

DET has advised that the Online TLDS should not be used as a record keeping tool, and not relied on to meet kindergartens' document retention obligations - so a copy of the completed TLDS should be maintained as per each kindergarten's service policy.

If you require more information, please contact DET directly via psts@edumail.vic.gov.au

Tip - Scam emails targeting kindergartens

Scammers are targeting kindergartens with fake messages with malicious attachments. Please treat all email received from addresses claiming to be kindergartens with the same level of caution as other email.

Our system admin has identified malicious email that looks like it is from another kindergarten. Double check the sender information of all email you receive, even if you are already in correspondence.

Refer to our Tip - Scam emails targeting kindergartens to learn how to spot them.

Online Transition Learning and Development Statement (TLDS)

The Online Transition Learning and Development Statement (Online TLDS) website is now available. Similar to last year, the following is available on the Kindergarten IT Program website shortly to support you in using the Online TLDS:

Our helpdesk is available Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm if you experience any difficulty or have any questions on how to use the platform.
Optional face-to-face training is available and is designed for kindergarten staff looking for support in completing an online website form.

Please note that the face to face training sessions will only cover how to use the online website and will not cover what to write in a transition statement. The Online TLDS platform is intuitive and most early childhood teachers in 2018 found the video and guide sufficient to complete their TLDS.

We suggest that you review the resources and the online platform before booking onto training. This training is available to kindergarten directors, teachers, and any educators who are responsible for writing transition statements for children as they transition to school. Sessions are provided free of charge and delivered in small groups of 10 people in face to face, three-hour sessions.

You may wish to use the below flow chart (click to enlarge) to decide on whether you need face to face training:

For more information. Please go to our TLDS page

Cyber Security Tip - Bluekeep: Windows RDP Vulnerability

What is Bluekeep?
Microsoft has advised users that there is a vulnerability within its Remote Desktop Services. Remote Desktop Services allow others to access your computer without physically being at the machine. Cyber attackers can connect to targeted computers and send specially crafted commands. This can happen without you allowing them to do so.

Microsoft Windows users must install a 'patch' to fix this vulnerability. If you are using one of the above Windows operating systems, please click the relevant link below to install the patch.
